Apparently, the technological progress have outdated the tedious copyright law.
It is obvious that with so much exposure to all these media, no one can resist to use them for copying CDs and DVDs for their personal collection.
And each and every person is aware that he/she is violating that law which prohibits you from copying but the customers cant help it. What is the use left for a CD/DVD writer if you don’t write some thing from it. So now the customers want the government to improve these laws and introduce a ‘new private right to copy‘ which would allow the customers to legally copy their own CDs/DVDs.
Even I support the cause as I think that the laws at present are only benefiting the music industry. Music industry is nobody to decide consumer rights. It is the government’s job to decide what rights consumers have.
However, the reports show no evidence that the current 50-year copyright term is insufficient. But consumer want some thing else.
