MP3.com is ready in its new avatar to again have download able music content hosted on its website but this time legally. The site is now owned by CNET and they had brought it from Vivendi Universal Music in 2003. MP3.com if you remember had at some point of time when it was at it peak of its popularity amassed a large library of downloadable music files. There were lawsuits filed against it by major music labels over copyright infringement leading to partial shut down of the site. It shifted its focus from download able music to reporting on major happenings in the music industry. The CNET owned site will now provide downloadable videos and music of artists with which now the site has contracts.
