Apple Computer has made it hard for people to change the software that comes with their iPods. iPodfun.de from Germany have created a new firmware software for the iPod which works similar to the earlier effort by iPodlinux. Rockbox has better playback control than the equivalent ipodlinux software. It is also easier to configure. We need to see more efforts by programmers to come up with more and more alternatives to the software that comes with any piece with hardware.
