All you need is Regedt (Registry Edit) to discover the correct registry value, an ICO editing program, such as IcoFX, and painted illustration on a 48 x 48 pixels icon. It just seems pleasant to be innovative with your gadgets but while doing it with your new Zune, you need to pay proper heed.
