Musicians if you are taking your practice sessions for granted, then I think you are loosing hell of a lot important stuff. You never know when while during one of those jams, one does some amazing things which have high chances of passing off without a trace. I personally regret forgetting some of the licks I use to come out with. But now I make it a regular point to plug my amp into my computer when I plug my guitar into the amp in order to re-work on all the scratches. Trust me on this one, all I did was to put a little effort in just equipping my computer for that. It costed me peanuts for the kind of quality it gives and has made my machine into a state-of-the-art digital studio.

Japan has resigned the planned revision to copyright laws- iPod Tax; which imposes a royalty payment on purchases of digital music players. The Cultural Agency committee’s decision took place after a yearlong debate on how to update the nation’s system for levying extra copyright fees on gadgets, given dramatic changes in recent years in the digital content business. As per the current system, most shoppers aren’t even aware that they’re paying 3 percent of the product’s wholesale price which is included in the price of recording devices and other gadgets. The money goes to recording firms, composers and artists so it’s technically not a tax.

According to a research conducted by DisplaySearch, Organic light-emitting diode (OLED) screens shipments went up to 144 per cent compared to the same time last year mainly due to increased use in MP3 music players. OLED displays use organic compounds that emit light when exposed to an electric current. This makes them a perfect fit for small electronics devices such as mobile phones and MP3 players. They have better contrast, offer wider viewing angles and provide faster response times than LCDs. OLED shipments leaped to 16.7 million units as revenues shot up 49 per cent year-on-year to $US130.9 million. The top OLED seller during the third quarter was South Korea’s Samsung, which sold $US37.1 million worth of the product.

A boom in top-end headphones is taking place with the growth in portable digital music players. Customers are now going gaga over active noise-canceling headphones that shut out external noise to improve the quality of the listening experience. A microphone in each earpiece analyzes external sound waves such as those of a surrounding crowd or a moving train and inverts the signal. The external noises are lessened, giving the user uninterrupted and high-quality music during a flight or on the train. The increasing popularity of digital mobile players such as Apple’s iPod has spawned a wide range of headphones, such as neck strap and ear hook models. The headphones are developed using the technology originally designed for use by pilots. Sony’s MDR-NC50 model can lessen external noise by 80 percent.

With god zillion amounts of digital audio devices to choose from, it can be a tough job to choose the right one. Some of the basic features should be known to the consumers in order to make a rational purchase. Select a digital music player that is compatible with your computer’s operating system as most of your digital music collection is on your PC. Then different music formats available and specific audio players are only compatible with one type. MP3 is only one of the encoding formats. Many companies have developed there own digital music formats which are compatible with specific hardware. Apple iPods operate with AAC (Advanced Audio Coding) format which runs on iTunes software. And Microsoft developed the WMA (Windows Media Audio) format used with Windows Media Player. Devices have calendars, notepads, photo libraries, AM/FM radio and many more features other than just playing music. You should be able to decide that what will be the primary use of your device. And in accordance to that you should be picking up the device. Lastly, it is the money you want to spend. Flash memory players are usually less expensive, but have less space. Hard drive devices offer more storage space, but rise in price as the storage capacity increases.
