When you look at it for the first time, you could be misled into believing that this is a child’s home creation with an old matchbox. However, this is no plain, useless box. It houses 256 MB of memory that you can use to listen to your favorite music.

Distinctively different from all the compact mp3 players, the Motz music box is a tiny box of 28mm x 25mm x 18mm. And you would find it hard to believe that box can play MP3, Ogg, and WMA files. It packs a 3 hour battery life as well. For loading files and listening to music, there is a jack at the bottom, where you can plug in an adapter or earphones. For controls, you have a plain, fragile joystick. I doubt if this player can provide you the non-stop music you seek from mp3 players, however, at $68.55, this is good for those of you who dare to be ludicrously different.

Every device launched carries with it the invisible burden of ‘changing human lives’. Futuristic or utilitarian, people look for something ‘more’ - the driving factor behind every innovative device that eventually falls flat trying to exceed the expectations of consumers.

This trend was evidenced when Segway was released. Disappointed consumers sought a better design and respite came in the form of Australian electronic due Segue’s new concept.

If you are not a musician, there is no reason for you to read this article. The Tascam MP-VT1 Digital Audio Processor (DAP) has been designed only for those who appreciate the purpose of this utilitarian device. For musicians, this device offers everything that they would look for. And when it comes from a renowned company like Tascam, there could be hardly any doubt about the quality of the device.

A veritable device, the MP-VT1 is loaded with features like Variable Speed Audition to slow songs down with no variation in the pitch. This would particularly appeal to DJs who can configure the songs for loops. You can also modify the pitch of the music played in the device. Additionally, it incorporates a built-in metronome, to regulate the pulse, and an instrument tuner. There are jacks for the microphone and line-out. The only limitation is its memory capacity that cannot hold more than 240 songs. However, there is no doubt that the music buffs would just love this device.

This is style at its best. The P480 Personal Media Player is a ‘dark-horse’, if I may use the word. Odd-I has released no ‘odd’ device this time. On the contrary, the P480 is a design marvel. With a design similar to the T43, the P480 is a beautifully crafted media player.

The P480 comes in options of 30 or 60 GB HDD. It incorporates features like DMB, GPS and WinCE. Additionally, it has an SD card port and an e-dictionary, to top it all. There is no news of the price, however. Yet, something tells me the pricing is going to be as fiercely competitive as the P480’s looks suggest. This device is going to rock.
